The word "Bagatelle" has a double meaning. It means both "small property", but also designates a frivolity, or a love affair. The Clos Bagatelle in St-Chinian in Languedoc perfectly expresses these two poles: the joy of living and the rigour of a job well done.

It was in 1623 that the first vines were planted on this property located in St-Chinian, after the clearing carried out by Pierre Mercadier. Since the 20th century, family tradition has dictated that Clos Bagatelle has been passed down from mother to daughter, and not from father to son, as is normally the custom. For the record, the coat of arms of Clos Bagatelle is a…woman in armour! Currently, Christine Simon, Luc's sister, runs the estate. The division of tasks has been done naturally with Luc taking care of the vines and Christine marketing the Clos Bagatelle wines. In the cellar, the brother and sister share the tasks.

This vintage was aged for 18 months in new oak barrels, dried for 36 months, and medium toast.

This wine has thickness. Its nose confirms this concentration and then, after a few seconds, we feel the blackberry jam, toast, black pepper, vanilla, cinnamon, cedar rising. It is so beautiful that we are left speechless.

Fine and distinguished, this wine will accompany with charm a baron of lamb or pigeons roasted with juniper. And why not simply delight in listening to a good Jazz…
